Running late and traffic sounds of worsening congestion, yet we make time for a two min stop off.

Jalama Beach camping

In a last minute ditch effort to escape L.A. and enjoy some fresh air, a few friends (http://www.sargeantphotography.com/) and I headed out to Jalama Beach. Waves, sun and music were a constant throughout our visit to the beautiful central coast.

Central America

Along with the many experiences during my trip, there was one that was a tragic loss of my camera on the 3rd day of travel. Luckily I had a point-n-shoot with me too, but those photos wont be on the blog. Here are just some of the images captured in those 3 days...

The bamboo fields

I finally got a solid chunk of time to go through the rest of the photos from Rancho Los Alimitos. I don't know what caused the mood, but for some reason my style comes out a bit different, and to my liking. Keep a heads up for more of this type of work, and check out the rest of this series in my portfolio section.

Sunrise Hike of Mt. Baldy

A last min. call to leave Long Beach at 4 in the morning resulted in an unprepared and spectacular hike up Mt. Baldy.

Rancho Los Alamitos

Long Beach's best kept secret settles on top of 7.5 acres located at the top of a hill directly adjacent to CSULB. Rancho Los Alamitos is a historic ranch site with beautiful gardens and quite literally a breath of fresh air. The Cactus Garden contains some amazing sights as some of the plants are quite old and take on an almost prehistoric vibe. Free to the public Wed-Sunday from 1-5, I'm going to be photographing there much more frequently.

Trying out some new things - my favorite image comes from an unexpected happening. with the light hitting just right, my camera captures the reflection between my polarizer and my UV filter and displays the writing on the lens. You can see it on the left side of the image directly below, just click on it to zoom in.

...and I'm BACK!

So I've moved into downtown Long Beach and have fallen in love with the place. My new residence is filled to the brim with people, energy and music, which helps inspire more and more of my photography. Here's a day with my new place and neighborhood once the rain cleared.

Election Day beauty

The night had brought rain in sheets, but the day brought crystal clear waters and rolling cumulus clouds. The site was worth standing on the roof of my truck to get past the barb wire, although it did add some good contrast on some photos.

24 at 55

It was alchemy hour as I drove home from a shoot in San Pedro, across Long Beach and over the Harbor. I couldn't help myself, and I couldn't stop, so in an attempt to stop and smell the roses I now have these. This situation happen all too often, and seems to work as an allegory of the Southern Cali lifestyle I've adapted to, along with having some cool "chance" images.
